Review: PetSafe Busy Buddy Dog Toys

If you have a dog that loves to chew, it can certainly be a challenge. Finding the right toys that will keep him entertained and stand up to his powerful jaws will make things better for both of you. PetSafe has designed their new line of Busy Buddy Dog Toys with power chewers in mind.

Just like us, our dogs crave mental stimulation. Without it, they'll get bored and begin to find things to entertain themselves. Much like a bored child, this will probably result in your dog ruining something or getting into something that he shouldn't be playing with.

Dogs that like to chew while playing can be challenging to buy toys for. It's hard to find toys that they won't shred or ruin within a matter of minutes. If you're like me, you get frustrated when you spend money on a “tough” toy and your pup ruins it just hours after you bring it home.

Review: PetSafe Busy Buddy Dog Toys

Busy Buddy Dog ToysThe Busy Buddy Dog Toys line from PetSafe was designed for dogs that like to chew and gnaw while playing. They are all made of BPA-free rubber and plastic. They are designed to relieve boredom and anxiety, and can be cleaned in the dishwasher.

Frosty Cone

This toy is 100% rubber with a large opening on the front. You can fill it with peanut butter, yogurt or a similar treat. Throw it in the freezer for a few hours, and your pup will have a tasty, frozen treat that will entertain him for a while.

The rubber is also vanilla-scented to entice your pet even more. The Frosty Cone is available in 2 sizes:

  • Small for dogs weighing 8-30 pounds
  • Large for dogs weighing 30-80 pounds

You can purchase the small size for $6.64 and the larger size for $11.39 on Amazon.

Chompin' Chicken

These Busy Buddy dog toys are made with chicken-scented rubber. They come with treat rings (as seen in my video review above) that are made of natural rawhide and grain-free ingredients.

You stuff the slots in the toy with treat rings, which will keep your pup chewing for hours. These toys promote mental stimulation as well as dental hygiene. As your dog chews and bites to get to the treat ring, the hard rubber will scrap the plaque and tartar from his teeth.

This toy is also available in 2 sizes:

  • Small/Medium for dogs weighing 25-50 pounds
  • Medium/Large for dogs weighing more than 50 pounds

You can purchase the small size for $11.47 and the larger size for $21.99 on Amazon.

dog chewing toySlab O' Sirloin

I bet you can guess what this toy smells like? Yes, it's beef-scented. The Slab O' Sirloin holds treat rings as well. You push two rings into the slots on the front of the toy. As you'll see in my video above, it's kind of tough to push them in, but once in they are also difficult for your dog to remove.

This means your pooch will get hours of enjoyment out of a chewing session with this toy. It's a great toy for cleaning teeth, and comes in 2 sizes:

  • Small/Medium for dogs weighing 25-50 pounds
  • Medium/Large for dogs weighing more than 50 pounds

You can purchase the small size for $12.34 and the larger size for $20.89 on Amazon.

Cravin' Corncob

You can see my Labrador, Saddie, chewing on this toy above. It is made with butter-scented rubber. To insert the treat rings in the Cravin' Corncob, you unscrew one end and slide the rings onto the cob.

Not only does this toy have cracks and crevices that help to clean teeth, it also features two round brushes that clean your pet's teeth as he chews. It is also available in 2 sizes:

  • Small/Medium for dogs weighing 25-50 pounds
  • Medium/Large for dogs weighing more than 50 pounds

You can purchase the small size for $12.99 and the larger size for $21.99 on Amazon.

If you have a power chewer or a dog that just loves to gnaw from time to time, I would absolutely recommend these toys. They have held up well to my three dogs over the past couple of months. They even like to chew on them without the treat rings. They're affordable, durable and definitely enticing for my pack!
